Hayes & Yeading’s academy side kept up the pressure on leaders Bedfont Sports with a crushing 7-1 victory over Wingate & Finchley on Thursday evening with Dylan Kearney hitting the back of the net on four occasions alongside a brace from Matt Marques and one from Matt Sinclair.
The opening ten minutes saw the visitors take the game to United and it looked likely to be a real hard slog to earn three points as firstly Ricky Louch had a shot from inside the box deflected wide by a well-timed Josiah Benjamin interception and then a Luke Prokopiou volley was only inches wide of George Upton’s post.
On 12 minutes though United opened the scoring courtesy of a bit of individual brilliance from Matt Marques. The winger collected the ball on the left and moved inside before hitting an angled drive from fully 20 yards across ‘keeper Calum Bukowski and into the far top corner.
Matt Sinclair then struck the top of the crossbar before another stunning strike, this time from Dylan Kearney, doubled the United lead. Kearney superbly took down a cross-field pass and again from 20+ yards struck a shot that flew past Bukowski into the far top corner of the Wingate net.
Kearney notched his second and United’s third ten minutes later when he ran straight through the middle, beat Billy Swain to the ball and fired confidently past the diving Bukowski who had come out to meet him.
With United now firmly in charge, Ben Slade went close to a fourth when he fired goalwards having rounded Bukowski, only for Charlie Clement to slide the ball away off the goal line.
United were straight into their stride after the break with Matt Sinclair following up on a block of his own shot to add number four within a minute of the re-start.
Although having a fairly quiet evening, Upton had to be alert on 55 minutes, diving low to push away an Andrew White shot from the edge of the box while at the other end Bukowski did the same, getting down well to a well struck Slade drive after good approach play from Marques. Marques again went close having collected an excellent cross-field pass from Kreshnik Rexhepi before Upton was again needed, this time going full stretch to tip a curling Louch shot around the post.
Slade and Benjamin both went close to a fifth for United before Kearney made it a personal foursome with two identical strikes in just a few minutes. Firstly his hat-trick came when he moved onto a ball through the middle and advanced unopposed to slide the ball past Bukowski, then minutes later another ball through the middle saw him beat Shayan Ghamarinezhad to the ball before again firing past the unprotected Wingate stopper to make the score 6-0.
The final couple of minutes saw another two goals, one apiece. Louch again went close for the visitors with Slade clearing off the line before a deep cross found White unmarked for a tap-in at the far stick. United pushed forwards again immediately with Marques getting his second as his slid home a deep centre from the tightest of angles to round off a good night for the United future prospects.
