Hayes & Yeading came out on top in a feisty encounter with second placed Camberley Town at Krooner Park on Monday evening taking Simon East's sides' 100% start to the Ryman Youth campaign through game number eight.

United were given a great chance after just 15 seconds when a trip inside the home box led to referee Gilmore pointing to the spot. Tamille Roach stepped up only to be denied by a diving save from Camberley keeper Jordan Westbrook.

Ten minutes later the ball was again on the spot after Westbrook had dragged down Josh Odunwo who had collected a fine ball over the home defence from Taofiq Olomowewe. This time Odunwo himself took the spot kick but once again the scorer was not troubled as he placed the ball wide of the upright.

Seven minutes later the tables were almost turned when Maurice Black intercepted a Pierre Amichice pass and bore down on the United goal, having avoided a tackle his shot was well blocked by Tyler Wootton in the United goal.

Just past the half hour mark United deservedly broke the deadlock, Roach crossed from the left and when Odunwo made a nuisance of himself in the box, the ball was played out to Prince Mbengiu on the edge of the box and he struck a sweet volley into the top corner of the Camberley net giving Westbrook no chance.

With a couple of off the ball melee's being dealt with by the match officials, the half-time interval arrived in good time for the two sides' management teams to attempt to calm their respective charges ready for the second half.

And it turned out to be an explosive start for United after the break, and for all the right reasons. Just 35 seconds had elapsed when Odunwo played the ball wide left to Roach who took a touch and rifled an unstoppable angled drive that flew past Westbrook before he could blink.

Within a minute, Mbengiu was put through but denied by Westbrook's touch that took the ball wide. Less than sixty seconds further on and it was 3-0. Nabil Rashid's free-kick into the box was headed on by Olomowewe, brought down by Odunwo who turned his marker and fired past Westbrook from ten yards.

Roach then saw a 25 yard free-kick dip just over the bar before Camberley substitute Charles Appiah crossed to Maurice Black who didn't connect properly and Wootton was grateful to collect. Wootton soon after pushed a James Flynn long range effort against a post before Roach again went close, just missing the far corner with a curling effort with his weaker right foot.

Chances continued to come at both ends, Nick Medcraft was just too high with a 25 yarder while at the other end Tom Marr's free-kick into the box was fumbled by Westbrook only for Jack Carierre to fire the loose ball over a vacant net.

With 18 minutes to play the home side earned a lifeline when the tireless work of loan striker Maurice Black paid off when his 20 yard free-kick beat the United wall and Wootton before settling in the corner of the United net.

A minute from time it could have been a real tense finish for United as Wootton missed a cross from the right that fell to Dominic Lyons who slid in at the far post, thankfully for United skipper Tom Marr was on hand to clear the ball off the line via the underside of the crossbar and the final whistle came shortly afterwards.
