Hayes & Yeading United Football Club

HYUFC Hayes & Yeading Utd 6
Hampton & Richmond 0
Hayes & Yeading sit atop the Ryman Youth League West Division after a fine 6-0 home win over Hampton & Richmond Borough on Monday evening.

The game however was not as one sided as the scoreline suggests as Hampton more than matched United in possession terms for the first hour despite creating very little in the way of opportunities. United’s greater fitness saw them really take control in the final 30 minutes with five goals being added.

United could have been ahead as early as the second minute when Prosper Ezewuzie met a Flavio Tavares corner only for Beavers keeper Alex Larson to tip the ball onto the bar at full stretch with Alan Musoke’s follow-up being deflected wide.

Still inside the first ten minutes and David Manu twice went close for United. Having taken the ball from Brandon Sloan just outside the box he was denied by Larson and then minutes later he cut in from the left and hit a dipping shot that just cleared Larson’s goal.

Next to go close was Riquel Samuel who got his toe to a free-kick, taking the ball past the out coming Larson but the ball went agonisingly wide of the post. United’s first real scare of the half came on 22 minutes when a long punt upfield was superbly brought under control by Seth Griffith, United keeper Melvin Minter blocked away his initial effort and when the Beavers man reclaimed possession Minter was again quickly down to block the ball out for a corner.

Four minutes from the break the deadlock was finally broken as a corner dropped nicely to Ezewuzie and he fired across Larson from 8 yards into the far corner.

Ten minutes after the break Manu raced away down the flank, cut inside and fired under Larson’s dive but the ball went just the wrong side of the upright into the side netting. At the other end a free-kick on the edge of the area saw Daniel McNab fire over for the visitors.

On 61 minutes United doubled their advantage when Musoke moved quickly onto a cross from the left and slid the ball under Larson from a tight angle. Nine minutes later Musoke had another, Romaine Palmer played the ball to the striker who turned his marker and angled a shot across Larson into the Beavers net.

Just two minutes later Musoke should have nailed his hat-trick. Dylan Hern and Andrew Dean combined on the left, the latter’s low centre falling to Musoke who crashed his effort against the crossbar with only Larson to beat.

Number four for United came on 75 minutes when the two centre-backs combined, Tom Watt flicking a near post header goalwards that was bundled home at the far post by Ezewuzie.

Four minutes were left on the clock when Hamdi Salah broke down the left showing great pace to outrun Josh Forrest before hitting a shot that Larson did well to push up into the air before grabbing the ball as it dropped.

Stoppage time was now almost upon us and United had two more strikes in the locker. Adam Cash started a move from the right that saw the ball played across the field to Dean, his clever chip over the defence fell to skipper Lewis Cole who precisely lifted the ball over Larson into the net.

The sixth and final strike came from the hard working Dean who latched onto a chip from Salah and he also lifted the ball perfectly over Larson to put the icing on a convincing scoreline.
