Hayes & Yeading continued their 100% record of defeats against early season table toppers Salisbury City on Saturday as Nas Bashir's squad was short of several players through suspension and injury.

The game saw a first start of the season for Manny Williams while new arrival from Reading Town, Shannon Jesson took a place on the United bench.

United started the game well and just after the ten minute mark a burst into the box by Luke Williams saw him feed the ball left to Tobi Joseph who cut inside past Callum Hart and hit a shot that deflected wide off his own teammate.

Minutes later United were denied what appeared to be a stonewall penalty when Salisbury's Matt Clark passed straight to an unmarked Luke Williams on the left side, the United midfield moving into the area only to be upended by James Clarke with referee Sannerude deciding that the defender got a touch for a corner which led to prolonged protests from United players and fans alike.

Just to rub it in, within sixty seconds the Whites took the lead. A long punt upfield was flicked on by the giant frame of Robbie Matthews to Dan Fitchett on the right wing, his low drilled centre being tapped home by Jamie White from a few yards out.

Six minutes later the same combination doubled the visitors lead as Fitchett again picked out White who confidently slid the ball under James Beasant's dive.

Minutes later United top scorer Kudus Oyenuga missed a golden chance to reduce the arrears when a Luke Williams free-kick found the striker unmarked at the back of the six yard box, his downward header was too powerful and it bounced up over the crossbar.

The United defence then had a let off when a free-kick into the United area was not properly cleared and Clarke sliced the ball onto the crossbar and over when again it looked easier to score.

Play continued to swing from end to end though and Manny Williams was unlucky not to reduce the arrears when he met a Luke Williams cross at the far post, his downward header striking the legs of Salisbury keeper Will Puddy and going wide.

Almost inevitably a short time later the visitors scored again, John Goddard tripped over the ball and gave up possession in midfield, a break away on the left then saw a cross fired in that an unmarked Matthews volleyed home majestically into the top corner of Beasant's goal.

Despite being three adrift, the one thing you can always say about United is they don't give up and forwards again they swept. Oyenuga fed Goddard who forced a good diving save from Puddy before Luke Williams collected the ball to the right and advanced before hitting a shot from 20 yards that flew past Puddy to reduce the arrears.

A minute before the break United were given another boost when the dangerous Fitchett lashed out as he walked past the United goalscorer and was promptly shown a red card by referee Sannerude and dismissed from the field of play.

The Whites came out in the second half basically set up to absorb what United could throw at them with the aim of hitting us on the break, unfortunately they succeeded as United showed very little in the way of invention going forwards.

With no chances being created in the opening 15 minutes of the half, it was in fact the visitors who nearly went further ahead on 62 minutes when Beasant allowed a Ryan Brett shot from distance to slip out of his grasp, thankfully the keeper was quick enough to turn around and grab the ball before it crossed the line.

Beasant did make an excellent stop five minutes later as a route one chance started by Puddy's goal-kick saw Chris McPhee bring the ball down superbly before sending White through on goal, the United keeper spreading himself well to block away the striker's hat-trick effort.

The closest United really got to troubling Puddy was an Oyenuga header from Tobi Joseph's centre and a shot from range by Luke Williams that was comfortably grabbed by the Whites keeper.

Puddy leapt to grab a 30 yard Sam Cox piledriver in stoppage time and then as the clock clicked into the sixth minute of stoppage time Joseph was felled in the area by Clarke and this time a spot kick was awarded. Oyenuga duly did the honours from the spot, albeit via the upright, but their was not enough time for an equaliser to be sought and the White took home all three points to Wiltshire.
