1st Team Match Report

HYUFC Hayes & Yeading Utd 1
Hemel Hempstead T. 1

Hayes & Yeading's opening 60 minute practice match at the SKYex against a young National League South Hemel Hempstead side saw the game end honours even as both sides netted once in the hours play.

United started quickly with Kaan Fehmi getting his head to a deep cross from the returning Josh Chamberlain but headed across the goal without troubling former United stopper Danny Boness in the Rudors goal.

Two more chances came in quick succession for the home side. Duku collected a cross and nicked the ball past Boness only for his effort to be cleared off the line, the ball was quickly returned to the United marksman who was dumped on the floor in the box and referee Steven Rea pointed to the spot. Ismael Ehui stepped up but his poor kick was easily saved by Boness.

Just past the halfway mark in the shortened half the Tudors themselves went close but a shot from the edge of the box was inches wide of the United goal and we took a break at the half hour mark with the scores level.

Within a minute of the re-start United were ahead as Duku collected the ball on the left side of the box, his low driven crntre being turned past Boness by one of his own defenders. A Duku free-kick a couple of minutes later required stopping by Boness who did well to push the ball to safety.

The Tudors started to find more forward rhythm of their own as United's trialist 'keeper was called into a lot more action than in the first period. He got down well to deny a Tudors forward who bore down on goal before at the other end Boness was down sharply to hold a Jack Roper effort.

The visitors were getting closer to an equaliser, Michael O'Neil headed off the line after a partial stop by the United 'keeper before another effort went inches wide of the United goal.

Ryan Kinnane headed an Ehui corner wide of the target before a superb strike from Matt Saunders levelled the game with the ball nestling in the top corner of the United net.

With two minutes of the hour left, Saunders almost won it for his side only to be denied by a superb tip over by the United stopper.
