Hayes & Yeading exited the Buildbase FA Trophy for another season at the hands of Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division side Chesham United who went home from the SKYex with a 3-0 victory courtesy of a Joe Iaciofano hat-trick on Saturday afternoon.

Manager Paul Hughes made a single change from the side that crushed high flying Hartley Wintney on Tuesday evening with Melvin Adesida returning at right-back in place of Keano Robinson.

The visitors started at pace and could have taken the lead after just 90 seconds as Joe Iaciofano collected the ball in the United area before laying it off to Jon-Jo Bates, the midfielders shot being pushed out by Jack Smith in the United goal with Danny May completing the clearance.

Smith was again in action once more just a few minutes later as Lewis Toomey collected a long ball over the top and lofted a goalbound shot that Smith did well to get a finger to which took the ball onto the post and back into play before being cleared by a grateful United defence.

The fifteen minute mark saw the first real opening for United as Danny Hutchins played the ball down the left flank to Rohdell Gordon, the wide man cutting inside and striking a low shot that went inches wide of Chesham ‘keeper Hafib Al Droubi’s goal.

Just five minutes later and Al Droubi proved provider of the opening goal for the visitors, his quick clearance was misjudged by Adesida who could only help the ball on into the run of Iaciofano who cut into the box and hit a low shot that Smith seemed to have covered until being sent the wrong way by Danny May’s attempted block.

Iaciofano netted his and Chesham’s second just six minutes later as Toomey controlled the ball in the box before laying it off to his strike partner who confidently struck the ball under the diving Smith from the right corner of the six yard box.

Smith then denied Bates once more, pushing the midfielders shot wide and a few minutes later at the other end a Toby Little corner was met by Manny Duku at the far post, his header going wide off the outside of the upright and that was the last goal threat of the first 45.

United made a half-time formation change as Frankie Jones came into the midfield in place of forward Ismael Ehui.

Again the half started a little shakily for United as May misplaced a pass in his own half, this was intercepted by Oran Swales who rolled the ball to Iaciofano who drilled it over the top from 18 yards out. The 54th minute saw United almost concede when referee Warren missed the most blatant of fouls as former United defender Jhai Dhillon pulled Hutchins over by the shirt and as play was waved on his low cross found Iaciofano two yards out but with a hat-trick chance being put on a plate he screwed his shot wide.

Toomey and Iaciofano both went close before Adesida was somewhat harshly adjudged to have tripped Iaciofano in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. This time Iaciofano did wrap up his hat-trick, firing straight down the middle to beat Smith from 12 yards.

Two minutes later United almost found a goal of their own as Duku raced past Dhillon on the right, his cross was overrun by Al Droubi who almost palmed the ball into his own net before regaining his composure to grab the ball as Andrew Ofosu closed in.

Toomey then showed he is good with his feet as well as his head by dribbling his way through the United defence only to be denied as he reached the six yard box by Smith diving in bravely at his feet to grab the ball.

The last chance of the game fell to the home side a minute from time as Little and Gordon combined to set up an opening for Ofosu, his low shot being turned wide by a diving Al Droubi.
