Hayes & Yeading’s successful pre-season campaign continued on Thursday evening as Mickey Lewis’s charges beat fellow Southern Leaguers Hanwell Town 5-0 on the Beaconsfield Road 3G surface.
United forced an early save from the visiting ‘keeper in just the third minute when Lloyd Macklin and Ismael Ehui exchanged passes, the latter drawing a good diving save from the Hanwell ‘keeper.
Ehui himself was next to test the visiting stopper when his header from jack Mills’ free-kick was tipped on to the crossbar before being cleared.
Two minutes later United were ahead when Macklin raced onto a neat through ball only to be sent sprawling by the on-coming ‘keeper. Macklin himself took charge from the spot and duly sent the ‘keeper the wrong way.
Hanwell soon after went close from 20 yards, just clearing Louis Wells’ crossbar before Ehui was put through only to be forced wide by the ‘keeper before firing into the side netting.
United doubled the advantage six minutes after the break, Matt Sinclair exchanging passes with Ehui before firing into the far corner from the left side of the Hanwell box.
United almost conceded in comical fashion minutes later when Wells’ attempted headed clearance cannoned back off a Hanwell player only for Wells to win the footrace to the line where he gathered the ball before it crossed the line.
Following on from Sinclair’s strike, another of United’s successful class of 2015/16 saw striker Dylan Kearney plant a perfect header into the Hanwell net, the striker getting on the end of a precise James Harper corner kick.
With substitutions now in full flow, Macklin was denied by the Hanwell ‘keeper before hitting his second a short while later when he latched on to the ball inside the area before firing low into the bottom corner.
Hanwell almost netted a consolation three minutes from time when having rounded young United ‘keeper Mo Otuyo, the Hanwell substitute hit the ball against the crossbar allowing the United defence to recover and clear.
Sinclair rounded things off nicely in stoppage time when he collected a Macklin pass and fired home United’s fifth.
