Mickey Lewis's Hayes and Yeading United side earned their first away league win of the season, beating Cinderford Town by two goals to one after an eventful second half which saw the hosts end the game with nine men and three quick fire goals.

The first half was not as exciting. It took twelve minutes before the first shot at goal. It came after Cole Brown intercepted a forward pass and slotted the ball to Dylan Kearney whose shot from 20 yards was just wide left.

Four minutes later, the same player volleyed over a Sam Humphreys cross after the winger had broken clear on the right flank. United began to build momentum and Melford Simpson latched onto a stray pass before just missing the top corner with a powerful shot which rose just too high.

The hosts composed themselves and worked their way into the game, but it was the 28th minute before they had the first shot on target as Sam Hunt's direct free kick to the near post was well palmed away by Louis Wells. Soon afterwards, United had a good shout for a penalty turned away when Brown got in front of Matt Long and was felled under the weight of the challenge, but it was not adjudged a foul.

United were given a free kick soon afterwards in a dangerous position just outside the area, and Kearney's effort was deflected up into the air by the wall, it came down right under the crossbar, and in their efforts to get to the ball, the on-rushing United forwards fouled Cinderford keeper, Ben Fletcher. Fletcher was in action again, a minute later, saving Adam Everitt's goal bound long shot.

At the start of the second half, United started forcefully, but it was Cinderford who had the first clear chance, Gethyn Hill getting some space on the right hand side of the penalty area and firing a shot towards goal that Wells blocked before smothering the ball to avoid a rebound. Then, Blaine Waugh sliced horribly wide from a dangerous position when he just had Wells to beat.

On 65 minutes, United's cause was helped by a loss of discipline as Waugh got involved in an altercation with Manny Adebowale completely away from the ball and after consulting both assistants, referee Mr Brown showed him a straight red card. Only five minutes later, United took advantage as James Harper's corner was flicked on by Adebowale and headed back in front of goal by central defensive partner Yannis Ambroisine for Kearney to tap in (below).

Simpson had a header cleared off the line just a minute later but instead of the lead being extended, it wasn't long before it had gone again. After Wells produced a fine save to tip Sam Hicks's shot around his right hand post, from the resulting corner, the ball was crossed for Hill to head in off the post.

Thankfully, United responded positively again and from another Harper corner, Simpson headed the ball in the air, Kearney retrieved it before cutting the ball back to Humphreys who curled in a fine shot from the edge of the area to the bottom corner.

This time, United were able to hold Cinderford at arm's length all the way to the final whistle and in stoppage time, Cinderford captain Josh Nelmes dangerously pushing Yassin Moutaouakil towards the perimeter wall received a second yellow card to reduce his team to nine men.

This made them wide open at the back and Ernest Okoh just failed to connect with Matt Sinclair's low centre and was also denied by a last ditch challenge from Moutaouakil's cut back. It wasn't to matter, as United's 2-1 victory was confirmed soon afterwards.
