Hayes & Yeading’s Academy side shared six goals on Monday evening with a very good Bedfont Sports side but will probably consider it two points dropped having led comfortably 2-0 at the break.

The visitors created the first opening of the game when Harry Sanders, Harrison Livingstone and Anthony Mozie combined down the left side, Mozie shooting from the edge of the box forcing United stopper Hugo Sobte to gather at the foot of the post.

United then started to ramp up the pressure, Ross Mckernan played the ball in to Matt Sinclair, he controlled well with his chest and shot on the turn only to be denied by ‘keeper Lewis Mathews who had closed him down quickly. Sinclair had the ball in the net soon after when a free-kick was missed by everybody and ended up in the net only to be ruled out as referee Ceri Williams had clearly signalled the kick was indirect.

United were not to be denied though and within the space of two minutes it was 2-0 courtesy of strikes 22 and 23 for the season from skipper Dylan Kearney. Colin Mugoya and Cole Brown combined to slide Kearney in for his first, the striker applying a composed finish past Mathews. Then just two minutes later he latched on to a Mckernan through ball and fired across Mathews in to the far corner from 15 yards.

The visitors came looking for a quick reply, Livingstone forcing Sobte to save from a 25 yard free-kick and then in stoppage time the same player found space in the box, Sobte took the pace off his shot with Mugoya sweeping up on the line. In between these efforts, United went close to a third when Sinclair’s dipping 20 yard effort was tipped over the bar by Mathews.

Whatever was said to the visitors at the break, they came out looking like a different side going forwards and it took just four minutes to reduce the arrears. Ashley Harricks throw-in from the right finding Livingstone on the side of the six yard box, the striker controlled the ball and smashed it last Sobte and in off the far post from the most acute of angles.

At this point Livingstone was giving the United defence the real run around. First he hit a shot across the face of goal and inches wide of the far post before racing on to a through ball despite being well offside with the assistant referee well behind play, his thunderous shot smashing back off the underside of Sobte’s crossbar. Two minutes later it was all square, not surprisingly courtesy of the impressive Livingstone who again broke away, this time on-side, coolly rounded Sobte and beat the covering defender on the line.

United, stunned by the Sports response, were soon on the attack themselves with Kearney, Brown and Jack Doyle all being denied in a single goalmouth scramble on 58 minutes. Two minutes later United edged back in front, Kearney’s powerful free-kick being fumbled by Mathews presenting Sinclair with a tap in from a couple of yards.

Once again though Livingstone was to spoil the party as seven minutes later the match was all tied up again. The striker breaking away on the left flank before rolling the ball square to Sports substitute Reece Guyett who had the simple task of rolling the ball in to an empty net.

United’s immediate response saw a Kearney free-kick come back off the post, Brown tucking in the rebound only to be flagged for offside and sixty seconds later Kearney was again denied by the woodwork, this time the crossbar and within seconds he had the ball in the net only to also be flagged offside.

The final real chance of the game came with 10 minutes remaining as Sinclair just cleared the bar from 20 yards and the game ran it’s course with no further real incident and it was a point apiece.
