An Ismael Ehui brace was enough to earn Hayes and Yeading United their first win of the season on their longest trip, despite having to see out the end of the game with just ten men for the second game in a row.
Four minutes in, Elliot Benyon had the first shot on goal, a volley from the edge of the penalty area that spun wide of the left hand post. However, Magnus Norman was called into action soon afterwards, first beating away Cody Cooke's long range effort low at his near post and then blocking Isaac Vassell's follow up before catching Cooke's deflected shot.
Truro gained territorial advantage in the opening stages, but were caught out by a superb break down the right flank with Luke Williams and Benyon combining well to advance into the area, where Ed Palmer brought Benyon down. Ismael Ehui did what he did in the previous game, confidently converting the spot kick to put United in front.
Good combative play from Jake Nicholson on his debut created United's next opening, as he won a challenge he had no right to win and Jim Fenlon clipped the ball forward for Benyon to run onto, but he dragged his shot across goal. The home side responded with a deflected Shane Krac effort which looped up onto the roof of the net, but play swung again United's way, with Ehui beating his man on the left and rolling the ball in to Benyon, his wayward effort cannoned off Connor Riley-Lowe back across goal and somehow, Nicholson and Ehui just couldn't convert from close range, thwarted by the legs of keeper Martin Rice and then leaving the loose ball to each other.
The rest of the first half passed without much more goalmouth incident, although the referee did have plenty of work to do to keep the peace as neither side were keen on shirking the physical battle in midfield.
The opening stages of the second half saw Max Worsfold shoot from long range but straight at Rice, before two Truro corners caused havoc, first Fenlon cleared Matt Wright's close range effort off the line and then Rob Farkins' header went narrowly wide.
However, just four minutes into the half, a throughball from Benyon to his strike partner Ehui put him against a sole defender and he worked the space before rifling an unstoppable shot into the bottom right corner.
Play hit a lull for a long while as Truro tried to work their way back into the game but resolute defending meant they couldn't get near enough to goal. Their cause was helped by a rather harsh sending off as Harry Grant stretched for a loose ball and caught substitute Ryan Brett. Truro players reacted very angrily and surrounded the referee, who acceded to their demands and sent Grant off.
With the extra man advantage, Truro had the ascendancy and made several opportunities which just evaded their strikers in front of goal. However, United had a great chance to extend their lead as substitute Evans Kouassi wriggled free on the right and sent the ball towards Ehui but just out of his reach, he retrieved the loose ball and crossed deep to Kouassi who volleyed the ball back into the mixer, again just in front of Ehui who couldn't control the shot and sent it just wide.
Once again, Truro pressed, but again without producing anything of note in front of goal and on the break, Tom Collins burst through on goal but was denied by an excellently timed challenge before he could get a shot away.
This proved to be the last chance, as United were rewarded for their stoic defending with their first three points of the season to sent the loyal and noisy travelling band of supporters home happy.
