Hayes & Yeading progressed to the 1st Qualifying Round of this seasons FA Youth Cup with a 3-0 victory over Hampton & Richmond Borough at Bedfont Sports on Monday evening.

United scored a victory over the Beavers for the second time in 8 days to progress to an away tie against another divisional rival, Bedfont Sports.

United were out of the traps at speed and should have taken the lead after just 12 seconds as possession was won immediately from the kick off and Chris Rose raced through on goal only to shoot straight at Hampton ‘keeper Liam Beach.

Beach was in the action again minutes later getting down well to a Jack Thomson-Wheeler header after Matt Marques had pulled the ball back from the left side.

Hampton’s first real strike in anger came on 13 minutes when a 25 yard free-kick from Charlie Ten-Groten Huis curled wide of George Upton’s far post.

Within a minute the visitors were indebted to beach who again made a good save to deny United the lead. Prince Mbengui made his way up the right flank before finding Aaron Fetherston in space, his deep cross was met first time by Marques forcing the Beavers stopper to push the ball around the post.

United’s George Upton was needed twice in quick succession soon afterwards also. Kyle Janko outpaced Kane Mason through the middle but fired straight into Upton’s arms and seconds later a break on the right saw a low centre from Mo Madkour only pushed away by Upton as far as Harry Chapman but he delayed his shot and Upton again saved.

After these scares, United went back on the offensive and Marques opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 21st minute. Shariff Wilson’s throw-in found Thomson-Wheeler in space, he played the ball to Marques on the left side and moved back inside and hit a right foot shot from 20 yards that flew into the far top corner of Beach’s net giving the ‘keeper no chance.

Just a couple of minutes later Beach was put under pressure to clear a back-pass by Rose, the weak kick being collected and returned goalwards by Mbengui but the effort drifted just wide of the vacant net.

United continued to push for a second, Nat Mensah’s far post header being pushed away by Beach, before being scrambled to safety.

As the half drew to a close the visitors nearly pulled level when Rimelle Straker collected a deep corner, his shot was pushed away by Upton before being cleared by Thomson-Wheeler.

United were again quickly on the offensive in the second half and within 30 seconds had doubled the lead. Mbengui broke into the box from the right with Mensah arriving to stroke the ball past Beach into the bottom corner of the net.

Around the hour mark the impressive Mbengui held off the attentions of Beavers defender Joe Warbanks and got away a shot that Beach did well to keep out.

Five minutes later the Hayes & Yeading lead increased to three. Mensah broke through the middle only to be tugged back by Ten-Groten Huis as he entered the box with referee Mr Rea pointing to the spot although unusually not producing a card which could have been yellow or indeed red. Thomson-Wheeler stepped up and sent Beach the wrong way from 12 yards.

Minutes later and it was back to the school playground with two Hampton players doing rock/paper/scissors to decide who should take a free-kick, the honour fell to Madkour who from 25 yards out was only a fraction too high.

Twenty minutes remained and the last meaningful effort of the game saw Madlour cross to Janko who volleyed the ball straight into Upton’s midriff.
