Hayes & Yeading’s first victory of this pre-season came on Tuesday evening at Calor League Central side Chalfont St Peter as Phil Babb started the match with 6 further new faces in the United side.
The play for a good deal of the first half took place in the hosts half of the field. The first chance falling to skipper Matty Harriott who collected a pass from Trecy Bambi before moving past a defender and hitting a shot across the face of the home goal.
Three minutes later United opened the scoring when Myles Stephenson slipped past the last defender before sliding the ball under the advancing keepers’ dive.
Number two was not long coming as the home keeper fumbled a cross and then grabbed Joe Anyinsah’s ankles as he went to roll the ball home. The former Wrexham striker took the penalty kick himself, sending the keeper the wrong way from 12 yards.
Chalfont’s only real effort towards goal came on 36 minutes, a lofted volley from the corner of the United box only just clearing Shaun Phillips crossbar.
In first half stoppage time Harriott, who seems to have a penchant for hitting the woodwork at the moment, 
crashed a 25 yard drive off the face of the crossbar after being fed by Stephenson.
The home side could and maybe should have reduced the arrears six minutes after the re-start when Francesco Teho failed to clear and a Chalfont striker nipped in only to fire wide of the United goal now guarded by Charlie Crowley.
With both sides making many changes any fluidity to the play disappeared until the 77th minute when two of those substitutes combined for number three. Rhys Murrell-Williamson bursting into the box on the left side and playing a firm near post cross that Solomon Ofori met on the volley from close range.
Deep into stoppage time Crowley pulled off the save of the match when he went full stretch to tip over a 20 yard free-kick that was destined for the top corner. He then got down sharply to grab hold of the follow up shot after the corner found its way to the edge of the box.
