Simon East’s Hayes & Yeading under 18 side tightened their grip on the top of the Ryman Youth League West Division as a convincing 5-0 victory at Beaconsfield Road over second placed Camberley Town saw United move seven points clear.
United dominated the early proceedings and took a tenth minute lead when Prince Mbengiu dispossessed a defender before advancing to the edge of the box whereby he slid the ball past the visitors keeper Jordan Westbroke into the far corner.
Camberley’s best chance of the half saw an 18 yard shot that skimmed off the slippery surface fumbled by Tyler Wootton in the United goal with the ball thankfully going wide of the upright.
Apart from the above scare, United spent large parts of the first half camped in the Camberley half of the pitch with the visitors relying on long punts from the back that Taofiq Olomowewe and Kane Mason dominated from the centre of the United defence. But for a brace of fine saves from Westbroke it would have been a bigger advantage at the break than 1-0.
A change at half-time with Tamille Roach coming into play saw him create an immediate impact as just two minutes into the half his cross from the left was met in tandem by Josh Odunwo and a defender with the ball flying into the top corner.
Around the hour mark United made it three as Ahmed Mohammed was first to the loose ball after Westbroke had made a fine point blank save, the United skipper firing home from close range.
Three became four just over ten minutes later when top scorer Odunwo worked space for himself in the area and fired home for his 12th of the season. A late strike from substitute Pierre Amichice rounded off an excellent night for United’s youngsters as he fired under an unprotected Westbroke from inside the area.
