Hayes & Yeading's second string containing no fewer than four of the current under 18 side won their second consecutive game against a Cheshunt side that due to travel difficulties were only able to field 10 men including their gaffer Stephen Holmes.

United started as well as anybody could hope when under 18s top scorer Josh Odunwo got on the end of a Huw Johnson centre with just 24 seconds played to open the scoring.

With the visitors playing a stubborn rearguard and United falling foul of the offside many times, it was not until the 24th minute that visiting keeper Sonny Sheed-Ryan was again tested, this time skipper Luke Bersey sent Prince Mbengiu away on the right flank, his centre was met by the on-coming Jack Thomson-Wheeler but Sheed-Ryan did well to block the initial shot before diving on the loose ball.

Minutes later Sheed-Ryan was again in action, this time palming away a firmly struck Tamille Roach shot before his defenders hacked the ball clear. Number two came for United ten minutes from the break, Tom Marr got a firm header to a corner that Sheed-Ryan blocked only for Adetayo Osifuwa to bundle the ball home.

As the half drew to a close, the visitors had their first real sight of George Upton's goal but Aidan Richardson's long range effort went just the wrong side of the upright.

Delroy Preddie changed United's attack at the start of the second half with former Staines striker Mario Quiassaca taking the place of Odunwo. With fresh legs up front United continued to dominate the chances with Roach having a close range chip caught by Sheed-Ryan who then went full stretch to tip over a Matt Cooper drive.

Marr went close on 54 minutes when a part cleared corner was lobbed back in to Marr who beat Sheed-Ryan only for his effort to come back off the crossbar with the Cheshunt stopper getting down well to block Osifuwa's follow-up effort.

The third came just after the hour mark from substitute Quiassaca who collected an Mbengiu pass before curling a shot beyond the dive of the visiting keeper. Number four came just two minutes later when Roach broke into the box on the left, his low driven cross being diverted into his own net by Dan Smith.

Three minutes later the visitors almost got one back when Dan Ferrigno's 25 yard free-kick went wide after grazing the outside of the post.

United were soon back on the attack though as the ten men of Cheshunt started to tire in the final 20 minutes. Quiassaca hit the crossbar and then four minutes later he found the net for number five. Hamza Aalouache crossed deep to Andy Dean, his neat touch to Quiassaca saw the striker take a touch before firing past Sheed-Ryan.

With United easing to victory it was in fact the visitors who almost had the last say when Richardson collected a long ball through the middle but Upton was equal to his effort, palming the ball away before Bersey cleared.

Mention must be made of Stephen Holmes and his Cheshunt side for completing the fixture with their squad travel problems and for the spirit in which they undertook the game against the odds, a real credit to their club.
