Phil Babb’s men racked up their second successive Saturday away win with a solitary goal and an impressive team performance inspired by some superb support from the terraces.

In the opening half of the game, United were forced to absorb much pressure from a Dover side who have beaten Whitehawk, Ebbsfleet United and Gosport Borough already this season and showed signs of exactly why with some slick moves.

However, former home hero Mikhael Jaimez-Ruiz in the United net was a match for everything the home side threw at him along with his well-organised defence. Notable saves to his right reacting to a deflection off a long range effort from Ashley Carew and a closer effort to his left from Elliott Charles highlighted just what a big signing the Venezuelan stopper is this season.

As the half drew to a close United began to offer more of a threat carrying on into the second half with the left side of Adam Everitt and Tom Bird putting in strong performances down the left both defensively and in attack.

In an official crowd of 691, the home support were outsung throughout the day by the travelling Hayes & Yeading army and on 71 minutes their chants and cheers were rewarded with a goal. Seb Schoburgh netting his first competitive goal for the club skipping into the box and beating Mitch Walker in the Dover goal at his near post (pictured right). Coincidentally the exact same minute that Tobi Joseph netted the winner last season!

With time running out Dover boss Chris Kinnear reacted to the goal by changing his formation for an even more direct approach by adding an additional striker in the guise of former United man Nathan Elder, but even against a more aerial and physical battle the United defensive unit held firm and grew in confidence.

Despite five minutes of added on time the home side couldn’t break United who sealed their second successive 1-0 win at The Crabble amongst much celebration by the travelling faithful.
