For the second Saturday running, Hayes & Yeading failed to show themselves as an attacking force although the three goal winning margin for the hosts did flatter them a little.

The game itself on a bumpy Park View Road pitch was really a total non event for spectators for the first half hour as all that was noted in this time was a first time Kudus Oyenuga strike from Daniel Wishart's throw-in that was easily fielded by Sam Mott in the Welling goal and at the other end Jake Gallagher rose to a Jamie Day corner but the ball was behind him and he was well off target.

In the 32nd minute Wishart again found Oyenuga, this time the striker forged his way between both Day and Anthony Acheampong but the latter recovered well to charge down his shot before Mott was troubled. Similarly two minutes later, a Day corner found its way to Joe Healy at the far post, this time it was United's Alasanne N'Diaye sho slid in to block the shot.

Five minutes from the break the almost unthinkable, based on the previous play, happened, somebody scored. Unfortuately for United it was the home side, Day's free-kick into the danger area was not cleared by the United and this allowed Ross Lafayette to make room on the far side of the area where he fired a low shot past James Beasant into the far corner.

The second half was to see a little more in the way of attacking play, and United were lucky not to go further behind three minutes in. Lafayette collected a low driven cross, toook a touch and was denied by a Pelé interception that gave the home side a corner. Ben Martin met this at the far post but Luke Williams had stayed on his post and played the ball off the line.

Oyenuga then fired over the bar from a Williams pass with United testing Mott for the first and probably only time just before the hour mark when a powerful Pelé header was tipped over by the Welling keeper.

The action was soon back at the other end, Kurtis Guthrie holding off Pelé's challenge to get a shot away that Tom Cadmore blocked wide. The resultant corner was again headed goalwards, this time Wishart being well placed to clear off the line.

Sixteen minutes remained when a crossfield pass picked out Lafayette, he advanced into the box only to be denied by Beasant who pushed his shot out, Moutaouakil was on hand to assist by blocking the Wings striker's follow-up effort.

Three minutes later though it was 2-0 as the home side went route one from Mott, Guthrie brought the ball down well and fed Kiernan Mason-Hughes on the right side of the United area and he coolly slotted the ball past the on-coming Beasant.

Four minutes from time the home side netted a third when Mason-Hughes showed quick reactions to get a flick onto a Gallagher shot that looked to be heading wide, the ball nestling just inside Beasant's far post.

One minute remained when Cadmore tried an audacious effort from the edge of the centre circle which had Mott stretching as the ball just missed the top corner of the Welling goal.
