Nas Bashir’s side scored four without reply on Tuesday evening as goals from Kudus Oyenuga, Jerome Anderson and a brace from Luke Williams saw Staines Town well beaten on a wet rainy night at Kingfield.

Both sides took to the wet conditions quickly at it was the visitors who had the first strike at goal when Scott Taylor latched onto a loose ball in the middle of the park and found Reece Hall on the left and he struck a low shot which on the slippery surface went just the wrong side of the upright.

Four minutes later it was United’s time to put pressure on the Swans goal. Luke Williams corner from the left was well left by Tom Cadmore in the middle and the ball was controlled and fired home at the far post by Kudus Oyenuga (pictured left).

Openings continued to be created by the home side. Luke Williams and Oyenuga exchanged passes to create an opening but the latter screwed his shot across goal with his weaker left foot. Minutes later skipper Sam Cox won the ball in midfield and picked out Oyenuga, he in turn quickly sent Daniel Wishart through on goal but his powerful shot was well blocked by Swans keeper Jack Turner who was very quickly off his line (pictured below).

The Swans came close to pulling the game level on 24 minutes as Hall picked up the ball and hit a first time shot from fully 25 yards that after a deflection went inches wide of the post. The resultant corner was headed out by Cadmore to Taylor who fired back a volley that Pelé did well to get his head to, taking the ball high over the top.

Five minutes later United doubled their lead, Oyenuga sent Calum Butcher away on the right flank, his low driven centre finding Jerome Anderson at the far post and he duly beat Turner for his fifth goal of the season.

Almost immediately from the kick off United had to defend stubbornly to maintain the two goal advantage. A succession of Swans corners caused problems in the United defence with James Beasant twice pulling off fine saves with the rebounds being cleared off the line, firstly by Anderson and then in the next attack by Cox.

Play was soon back at the other end though, Butcher did well to win the ball from Jordaan Brown at the corner flag he then picked out Luke Williams who forced another save from Turner who did well as the shot had taken a deflection on its way towards goal.

That was really it for the first half as United took to the changing rooms with a deserve two goal advantage.

The Swans made two forward changes at the break but it was still United who got the early momentum at the start of the second half as Oyenuga slid the ball through to Anderson, Turner though was quickly off his line to block the ball away with his legs.

Oyenuga then made space for himself in the area, forcing Turner to save at the foot of his post before the ball was punted clear. On 70 minutes towering Swans defender Teddy Ngoy met a corner at the far post, his knock back creating a shooting chance for substitute Max Worsfold but the ever dependable Cadmore was well positioned to block his effort and the danger was averted.

It was less than a minute later when the United lead increased. Oyenuga collected the ball in the right channel and fed it back to Mark Bentley, his accurate swinging centre was brought down by Luke Williams who then placed his shot past Turner into the bottom corner of the Swans net.

The ever busy Turner saved again from Oyenuga on 77 minutes only to be beaten for a fourth time three minutes later as Manny Williams pounced on a defensive slip to advance on the right, his shot deflected to Luke Williams who coolly stroked the ball past Turner for his second of the game, and United’s fourth.

Five minutes from time Turner saved from Luke Williams, denying him a first United hat-trick and a minute later the visitors should have troubled Beasant but after good work on the left by Theophanous and Worsfold, the latters cross falling to Will Bor who screwed his effort wide from 12 yards out.
