Hayes & Yeading United moved into the first round proper of this season's FA Trophy with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Eastleigh at the Silverlake Stadium, avenging a league defeat from just a few weeks previous.

Manager Nas Bashir made 3 changes to his previous starting line-up, Tom Cadmore missed out through suspension and Manny & Luke Williams also missed out, the latter taking a place on the bench. Coming into the side were Yassin Moutaouakil, John Goddard and Jerome Anderson.

Both teams started at quite a pace. Within the first minute, Jerome Anderson won the ball from Michael Green on the right bye-line, his driven cross come shot taking a deflection that saw the ball fly across the face of Ross Flitney's goal. Minutes later as play switched to the other end, Jai Reason forced United stopper Brandon Hall into a diving save with a shot from distance.

In the sixth minute a last ditch interception by Pelé stopped a goalbound shot from Spitfires skipper Glen Southam who had found space on the right and advanced into the United area.

After a frantic start the game started to settle although United suffered a blow after 15 minutes when lone striker Alassane N'Diaye pulled up with a hamstring problem and was replaced by Tobi Joseph.

United were soon on the march though, Daniel Wishart cut in from the left side, his shot was blocked on the six yard line, the loose ball going to John Goddard who saw his follow up blocked inside the box once more before the home side cleared their lines.

Nas Bashir's side were not to be denied though and took the lead on the half hour mark. Wishart out battled right-back Andy Forbes in the Spitfires box and despite appearing to be fouled, he stayed on his feet and fired in a low cross that Goddard rammed home at the far post for his first United goal (pictured right).

Six minutes later the United lead was doubled, thanks in part to excellent refereeing from Mr Lugg who allowed play to continue despite Joseph being fouled in the area. The United striker used his youthful power to hold off the attentions of veteran defender Tom Jordan who brought him down but as the ball rolled to Anderson the advantage was played and the United man smacked home his eighth of the campaign.

Just a minute later the home side were almost back in the game. Southam cut the ball back to Moses Ademola, his shot through a crowd of players being played off the line at the far post by Moutaouakil. Five minutes later they did get on the scoresheet though. Former United man Dale Binns collected the ball on the left and he picked out Reason who helped the ball to an offside looking Peacock who placed his shot beyond Hall's fingertips into the bottom corner.

No doubt with a reminder of the Boreham Wood game ringing in the players ears from the half time team talk, it was a perfect start to the second half for United. Just six minutes after the re-start a perfect pass from midfield by skipper Sam Cox found Joseph, the striker showing Leigh Mills a clean pair of heels before sliding the ball confidently past Flitney into the far corner.

At the midway point in the half United were still pushing for another as Moutaouakil raced past Binns on the right, his low cross was cut out by Mills but the ball went straight to Cox who was inches wide from fully 25 yards.

Three minutes later Wishart won the ball in a tackle on the left and as it ran on to Goddard, the United midfielder danced his way through three challenges but delayed his final effort and a defensive boot intercepted his shot.

Ten minutes remained when the home side finally looked to threaten Hall's goal as Binns played the ball into Ademola's path only for the winger to scuff his shot weakly straight to Hall.

Two minutes later the contest was effectively over as Anderson and substitute Josh Ekim combined on the right side, Ekim fired the ball across the park to Wishart who cut inside onto his weaker right foot and drilled a shot into the far top corner giving Flitney no chance.

The final five minutes saw a chance fall to each side but no further changes were required on the scoreboard. Hall was first to be called into action as Damian Scannell collected the ball and fired a shot from the edge of the United area, the keeper pushing the ball away diving to his left with Craig McAllister's follow up shot flying wide of the upright.

Last chance of the game came for United a minute into stoppage time as Ekim's corner was met by the head of fellow substitute Elliott Legg who forced a diving stop from Flitney at the foot of his post.
