Hayes & Yeading’s run of poor form continued at Kingfield on Sunday as Dover came from a goal behind at the break to hit United with a four goal blast in the opening 22 minutes of the second half.

Manager Nas Bashir brought in new signing from Chesham United Daniel Brathwaite at left-back while Calum Butcher, John Goddard and Tobi Joseph came in for Yassin Moutaouakil, Kudus Oyebuga and Jerome Anderson respectively. Brandon Hall also returned between the sticks.

It was to be a good opening half for the home side who went close in the 9th minute when Brathwaite played the ball to Goddard who turned his marker and fired in a 20 yard shot that was pushed wide by Mitch Walker in the Dover goal. The resultant corner was only cleared to Sam Cox who hit a first time volley that dipped just over the crossbar.

Two more chances came the way of the home side around the 20 minute mark. Mark Bentley and Luke Williams combined on the right with Williams’ low centre being bundled wide at the far post by Chris Sessegnon as Tobi Joseph waited to pounce. Bentley and Williams soon joined forces again, this time feeding Butcher whose deep centre was met at the far post by Daniel Wishart only for his header to drop into Walker’s arms.

Hall had to be at his acrobatic best in the 22nd minute when Billy Bricknell struck a 25 yard free-kick past the wall, the United stopper doing well to tip the ball over the bar at full stretch.

Seven minutes later United deservedly broke the deadlock. Williams free-kick from the right side was played deep to where Tom Cadmore rose highest to head back across Walker into the far side of the Dover net for his first of the season (above left).

Five minutes later Dover almost pulled level, a short corner to Ricky Modeste caught the United defence on it’s heels and when he centred, Ben May flicked a header that went inches wide of the upright and United’s lead was preserved.

Sadly at the break the rain began to lash down upon the Kingfield surface and this seemed to assist in United’s slump from being a goal ahead to basically out of the game within little more than 20 minutes.

In fact it took the visitors just 35 seconds to pull the game level. Two attempts by the United defence to clear failed and when Daryl McMahon picked up the ball on the corner of the area it didn’t look too threatening until he unleashed a curling shot that flew in off the far post.

Just before the hour mark United were behind in controversial fashion as Williams stumbled when trying to block a McMahon free-kick and although the ball appeared to strike him in the chest the assistant referee flagged for a penalty that referee Coggins duly awarded. Ben May stepped up and converted comfortably to give his side the edge.

Five minutes later and with the visitors very much in control Bricknell saw a fierce shot from the edge of the area pushed away by Hall before a two goal salvo in just three minutes effectively ended the game as a contest.

May netted his second, heading home a McMahon cross before a low centre from the right side was played into his own net by Pelé as he slid in to try and intercept.

Fourteen minutes remained when United found second goal. Williams was crudely upended by Shane Huke on the left bye-line, the United man leaving the pitch on a stretcher. His replacement Alasanne N’Diaye was to find the net with his first touch as he rose highest to head home fellow substitute Kudus Oyenuga’s free-kick.

The only other opening was to come to United in stoppage time, Wishart cutting in from the left and aiming a shot towards the far corner that Walker pushed away at full stretch.
