Hayes & Yeading United 5
Hampton & Richmond B. 1

Simon East’s Hayes & Yeading under 18s got off to the perfect start against Hampton & Richmond Borough with top scorer Aaron Harriott finding the net with just 56 seconds on the clock.

Good work by Flavio Tavares on the right wing saw the ball played inside to Aristede Bassele, his initial shot was blocked by the face of Beavers keeper Alex Larson but Bassele quickly regained possession and hit the ball across the area to Harriott (below right) who toed the ball home from close range.

Minutes later United went close to a second as another Tavares cross from the right was deflected by Charley Percy straight to Lewis Cole who was inches wide with a strike from the edge of the area.

Hampton then worked their way into the game as firstly Reece Brewster headed wide from a Jesus Martinez free-kick and then two inadvertently combined again as Martinez’s free-kick came back off the United wall straight to Brewster who connected perfectly on the half volley giving Luke Daley no chance in the United goal.

The Beavers, buoyed by the equaliser, had a good spell of possession without really troubling Daley before United started to regain control around the half hour mark. Larson saved from Bassele after a good lay off by Harriott and this was quickly followed by skipper Jeffrey Kimoto winning the ball in midfield and spotting Larson off his line, his effort from fully 35 yards just going over the Hampton goal.

Harriott then saw a header loop inches over the bar before Larson produced an excellent full length save to claw away a Bassele close range header. Harriott again went close on 38 minutes when having collected a long Daley throw he proceeded to outpace defender Ben Ryder but his shot went inches wide of the upright.

United were back in the lead a minute later though as Bassele won possession just outside the Hampton box, picking out Ryan Simpson (below) who hit a sweet volley from 18 yards that flew past Larson who really had no chance of keeping it out.

Ryan SimpsonAs the first half came to a close, Larson again saved from Harriott, pushing his shot away, and then Bassele saw a header from Simpson’s corner just fail to hit the target from 6 yards out.

The second half was to be dominated by the home side and it took United just four minutes to move further ahead. Harriott broke away on the left having turned past Ryder, his hard low centre was met by a rapidly incoming Tavares who rammed the ball home from close range.

Simon East replaced the impressive Tavares on 63 minutes with Riquel Samuels, the United substitute taking just four minutes to make his mark as he moved onto a Kimoto cross from the left and powered a header beyond Larson’s outstretched hand.

Two minutes later Bassele fired wide from 12 yards before Hampton’s only real chances of the half were produced. On 70 minutes Beavers substitute Isaac Joseph collected the ball on the edge of the area, his curled effort towards the far post being picked off comfortably by Daley. Then with five minutes remaining, a neat passing move involving Samual William, Joseph and Fransisco Eteme ended when the latter sliced his shot over from 12 yards out.

United had the final say on 86 minutes when man-of-the-match Simpson nipped in front of Larson’s dive to poke the ball home from a Bassele cross.
