Hayes & Yeading United 2
Camberley Town 0

Simon East’s under 18s maintained their 100% home record on Monday evening courtesy of first half strikes by Aristede Bassele and Aaron Harriott.

It was however the visitors from Camberley Town who started the quicker and in just the 6th minute a free-kick into the United area was headed away by Adam Butler but only as far as Samuel Slater who tried his luck from 25 yards but Luke Daley gathered his shot comfortably.

Five minutes later Camberley went close again from distance as a dipping drive by Karl Foster only just cleared the United goal although Daley did appear to have his angles correct had it been on target.

Hayes & Yeading then started to get a grip on possession without threatening Samuel Lornay in the visitors goal, that is until the 20th minute. Andrew Dean feeding the ball to Levi Fernandez who picked out Aristede Bassele in the area and he placed his side-foot shot perfectly inside the near post.

Ten minutes before the break Daley was called into action diving full stretch to push away a Kyle Wilkie effort that was heading for the far corner of his goal.

United finished the half the stronger, Fernandez fed the ball into Aaron Harriott’s run but he fired wide from just inside the area. However with a minute to go to the break skipper Jeffrey Kimoto hit a shot from 25 yards that was partially blocked and as the ball span towards goalkeeper Lornay, Harriott reacted quickest and got to the ball before him to poke it into the net.

United started the second half in the ascendancy and just a couple of minutes in could have increased the lead when Fernandez sent Harriott through, he beat his challenging defender but his shot was agonisingly wide of the far post.

Camberley then started to push forwards and created two good chances of their own. Slater was just wide with a header before a golden opportunity went begging when George Goegman’s shot was deflected to Connor McMillan and he fired wide of Daley’s goal from six yards out.

As the game entered its final quarter, Lewis Cole and Bruno Goncalves raided down the left side with the latter’s goalbound centre being tipped over by Lornay. Daley was soon in action at the other end when he dived to grab a stooping header from Camberley substitute James Stroud.

Kimoto tried his luck for the home side from distance again minutes later, this time forcing a superb tip over by Lornay who was in action again soon after, this time touching a 20 yard Goncalves free-kick around the post.

Late in the game Stroud raced into the United area on the left only for the chasing Elliott Legg to catch and dispossess him with a superbly timed sliding tackle inside the box and then in stoppage time at the other end Cole’s deep corner was met by Adam Butler but his header was hacked off the line and the score remained at 2-0 to the hosts.
