Hayes & Yeading United 7
Barnet (Black) 2

Hayes & Yeading’s under 18s said farewell to Church Road in style as they hit bottom side Barnet (Black) for seven in their final home Ryman Youth League fixture of the season.

United started quickly and were soon a goal to the good when having had a shout for handball turned down inside the Barnet area, Ryan Simpson was felled just inside the area and referee Hickes pointed to the spot. George Isaac slotted home comfortably from 12 yards.

United should have doubled their lead 5 minutes later when Nicke Kabamba knocked down a Joel Jacobs free-kick to Isaac who smashed his shot against the underside of the crossbar from close range and keeper Owen Humphrey was able to pounce on the loose ball in the ensuing scramble.

For the visitors, Akins Obamakin saw a shot from range dip over before another guilt edged chance for United went begging as Simpson whipped in a cross that Kabamba tried to chest home rather than head and Humphrey saved at the foot of his post.

Minutes later and totally against the run of play Barnet drew level when the impressive Ifeanyi Allen outpaced Jacobs on the right, cutting into the United area and sliding the ball past Luke Daley’s dive and into the far corner.

United were soon back in control and nearly re-took the lead when a cheeky back-heel from Kabamba from 15 yards forced a diving save from Humphrey. The final five minutes of the half saw two more goals for United and Isaac, who completed a first half hat-trick taking his tally for the season to 17.

Isaac’s second of the game came after Humphrey had pushed away an angled volley by Dale Woodford, the United striker firing home from 12 yards. His hat-trick strike came in stoppage time as he got the final touch to a corner from the right to send United in with a deserved two goal cushion at the interval.

As expected, United started the second half hungry for more and after Kabamba had headed a Simpson centre wide of the target, the same combination provided goal number four, this time Kabamba hitting the target with a downward header that beat replacement ‘keeper George Connolly.

Just after the hour mark Simpson got his name on the score sheet as he collected the ball on the left and advanced into the area before sliding the ball past Connolly’s dive and into the far corner.

This inspired a little flurry from Barnet as firstly Obamakin did very well to drag down a chipped pass only to blast over and then on 69 minutes the deficit was reduced when Taylour Young-Chambers outpaced the United defence and rounded Daley before sliding the ball into the United net.

It was not long before United had the ball in the Barnet net once more, courtesy of a second penalty of the evening as handball was given as substitute Cyrus Longdon-Hughes tried to pick out Kabamba in the centre. With Isaac already withdrawn, Simpson stepped up and smacked his spot kick into the roof of the net for his second of the game.

More was still to come from United and ten minutes from time Simpson almost had his hat-trick as he picked up a Woodford pass before hitting a shot that cannoned back of the Barnet crossbar.

United’s seventh came a couple of minutes from time when Kabamba got to a throughball before his marker, leaving him to run at goal and slot the ball under Connolly’s despairing dive to seal a comprehensive victory for United’s youngsters.
