Barnet (Amber) 0

Simon East's under 18s side roared back to form with a convincing victory over a pacy and skilful Barnet Amber side.

Goals from Cameron Gilmartin, Nicke Kabamba and Callum Chickah went some way to banishing the memory of the team's disappointing exit from the F. A. Youth Cup last week.

United had to survive an early onslaught from Barnet Amber whose pacy attackers caused the home defence a number of problems early on. A defence splitting pass from Nathan Wilson set Jamal Park-Jude clear on the right and he drove past Joel Jacobs before hitting the near post with his angled shot. Then a mazy run from deep by full back Andrew Whorms got him into the area and his shot was saved by Luke Daley.

Junior Lawrence then latched onto a Jamal Hackett long pass and burst clear of the defence, beating Daley with his shot but skewing it wide.

United responded with a quick counter attack. The Cumber brothers, Connor and Bobby combined to set up Chickah in a sweeping crossfield move soon afterwards and the forward converted to the right wing saw his shot tipped onto the post by Barnet keeper Freddie O'Connell.

Whorms centred for Lawrence who blasted his volley over, but it was the home side who were to open the scoring when a deadly accurate Joel Jacobs corner to the far post was headed home from close range by Gilmartin.

The goal, somewhat against the run of play, profoundly shifted the momentum of the game as United grew in confidence. Jacobs just cleared the crossbar with a free kick and he then set up Kabamba with a long pass, but the striker was narrowly wide with his shot after a smart turn.

After antother Jacobs free kick was comfortably fielded by O'Connell, Kabamba sent United into half time two goals to the good. He actually missed a good chance just in front of goal when he mistimed a shot at point blank range, but Chickah powered in a follow up shot which O'Connell fumbled and Kabamba was handily positioned to tuck home the loose ball.

Buoyed by their comfortable lead, United went on to enjoy a one sided second half. Both Kabmaba and Chickah brought good saves from O'Connell at the start of the second half, the latter the keeper just kept out with his legs. Then Connor Cumber raced onto Cyrus Longdon-Hughes's throughball and cannoned a shot off the post with O'Connell well beaten.

Jacobs had a goalbound shot deflected wide by Jake Broome and after Park-Jude tested Daley's concentration with a rare shot that the keeper gathered in, United went on to end the game strongly. Chickah and Safi Fazli combined to set up the onrushing Gilmartin but the midfielder failed to connect properly with his shot in a good position. United were to claim a third goal however, as Chickah's shot from just outside the area went in at the far post even though O'Connell got quite a strong touch on it.

Daley had one more save to make, a low catch from Jamal Lowe's shot, and soon afterwards, United had their second win out of two league matches confirmed by referee Mr Ford.
