Hayes & Yeading United eased to victory over Barnet Amber for the second week in a row to extend their 100% league record this season.

The first half was full of incident and although Barnet started well putting the United defence under pressure, it was Untied who struck first with a fine goal following a sweet counter attacking move involving Cyrus Longdon-Hughes and Nicke Kabamba. They both combined to set up Callum Chickah on the right hand side and his well struck finish beat Tommy Glanville at the near post.

Just six minutes later, United doubled their lead and again, the move stemmed from Longdon-Hughes on the left. His far post cross found Chickah in space and his header back in front of goal was headed home by an unmarked Cameron Gilmartin.

Glanville was able to save Leo Cunningham’s long range shot following Bobby Cumber’s quick free kick, but United were pegged back on 25 minutes when Jamal Lowe flicked in Max Bradford’s free kick with his head beyond Luke Daley in the United goal.

Twice, Barnet came close to a quick equaliser. Kelvin Omohegbe’s cross was turned just wide by Junior Lawrence’s ambitious overhead kick and the loose ball was driven towards goal by Andrew Manitou, only for Cunningham to clear the ball off the line. Then from Bradford’s square pass, Billy Pearce fired just over from long range.

But at just the wrong time for Barnet, a goalkeeper error restored United’s two goal advantage, Glanville failing to deal with Bobby Cumber’s looping free kick, the ball going over his head and in at the far post.

Daley produced a fine save to deny Lawrence, leaping to his left to tip his volley away. Lawrence also hit the post from Omohegbe’s low centre. However, United were far more clinical than their hosts and stretched their lead before half time with a great goal to eclipse even their first. Joel Jacobs advanced on the left and sent the ball over to Kabamba. His precise flicked header carried the ball to Chickah whose pinpoint cross was diverted past Glanville and into the net by Kabamba.

In stark contrast to the first half, the second half was bereft of chances. Daley saved comfortably from Manitou’s low shot but neither side were able to break down the opposing defence's until the 73 rd minute when Kabamba’s low shot was deflected away for a corner. From this, Jeffrey Twumasi’s cross found the onrushing Chevy Hart whose header crossed the line despite the best efforts of the defenders on the line.

Despite this, once more the game descended into bland midfield play, with only a consolation strike from Barnet’s Manitou, a far post header from Jamal Hackett’s cross in stoppage time, to provide interest in the closing stages.
