The attacking strength of Hayes & Yeading United came to the fore as they emerged comfortable 7-2 winners at Top Field on Monday evening.
The scoring started after eleven minutes of concerted pressure from United. Andy Yiadom was able to unlock the defence with a diagonal ball which Daniel Wishart laid off in front of goal for Pierre Joseph-Dubois to touch home with ease.
Just two minutes later, Joseph-Dubois was on hand to finish again when Phil Appiah dispossessed Michael Leon and squared the ball to the unmarked forward for his second easy tap-in in four minutes.
United were rampant at that point and Wishart cut the ball back from the left channel to Nathan Webb on the edge of the box, who showed sublime footwork to dribble around three challenges before calmly slotting the ball past Ryan Yule in the Canaries goal.
The goals kept on coming, and Joseph-Dubois completed his hat-trick when he placed Ben Adams’s low centre into the bottom corner.
Wishart went close to adding a fifth on the stroke of half time but Yule blocked his shot following Appiah’s cut back.
The fifth United goal came ten minutes into the second half of this 60 minute match as Luke Rowland stuck out a hand to prevent a Joel Jacobs cross from reaching Martin Merritt and Adams finished the spot kick by sending Yule the wrong way.
Three minutes later, it was 6-0 as Yiadom drilled the ball in as once again, the Hitchin defence were dispossessed and the loose ball was ruthlessly dispatched into the net.
Hitchin rallied late on and two dead ball situations created two almost identical goals, Jamie Arlick scoring both with near post headers having run across the six yard box.
However, United were to have the last word, adding a seventh in stoppage time when Anthony Morrison’s shot deflected in off team mate Luke Tyburski to deceive Yule and hit the back of the net.
