Paul Hughes' side made it three from three with a comfortable win over a Burnham side who hit nine in their opening fixture.

Three goals in the opening 15 minutes virtually ended the game as a contest and the margin could have ended so much higher but for an excellent second half from visiting keeper Tom McNeil.

For a game that was to be totally dominated by the home side, it was actually the visitors that created the first opening with just 50 seconds played. A deep corner kick from the right side picked out Darren Crane at the far post and his header was only just too high to trouble Alban Guibout in the United goal.

From that point on it was pretty much one way traffic. First blood came on seven minutes when a Daniel Wishart cross was met with a deft header by Paul Robinson who neatly guided the ball into the bottom corner of the Burnham net. Number two was as many minutes away, this time it was Adrian Forbes providing the ammunition by picking out Wishart at the far post and he outjumped his marker to head home.

At this point there was no respite for beleaguered Burnham as number three came on 14 minutes when a Jordan Lee-Brown near post cross was allowed to bounce past defender and keeper giving Robinson the easy task of nodding home from little more than a yard in front of a gaping goal.

A brief sortie upfield from the visitors saw a Ryan O'Toole shot go wide of the target and then minutes later the ball was again in the Burnham net as Daryl McLean got his head to another Forbes centre, netting in at the near post.

Still United pushed for more. Robinson slid the ball into Wishart's run, he turned his marker only for his effort to be scrambled wide by McNeil in the BUrnham goal. Minutes later it was McNeil to the rescue again as Wishart set up Mclean on the edge of the area, his shot that looked to be heading for the bottom corner being touched around the post.

United were forced to replace the creative Forbes on the stroke of half time while Paul Hughes replaced Wishart and Appiah at the break.

The second half took a little while to get going but it was not long before McNeil was called into action again. Lee-Brown found McLean on the left, the former Southampton youngster cut inside and battled his way through several defenders only for his final effort to be blocked away by McNeil.

Robinson then went close to his third when an instant volley from a throw in almost caught McNeil napping but he managed to palm the ball to safety. Robinson was still in the hunt for that hat-trick goal and a shot with his weaker left saw McNeil managing to grab the ball at the second attempt. On 68 minutes Burnham won a free-kick right on the edge of the United area, inside the D, O'Toole's effort beating the wall but just clearing the crossbar.

The final ten minutes turned into the McNeil show as first he beat out another Robinson effort before substitute Molami Bokoto fired over after an excellent lay off from James Mulley. Burnham had a couple of chances to reduce the deficit but on both occasions could not keep their shots down and Guibout was not troubled.

Final effort in stoppage time saw McNeil save from McLean but the game was over and indeed had been for some time.
