Hayes & Yeading United 5
Walton & Hersham 2

Hayes & Yeading got off to the perfect start against Walton & Hersham when with just two minutes played Leo Cunningham sent Daniel Wishart into a race with defender Andy McGill, the United striker got to the ball first only to be dragged down by keeper Harry Church as he tried to round the stopper. Dean Worman stepped up and easily converted from the spot.

The Swans came straight back at United and Alex Tokarczyk showed good hands to field a George Olulobe shot after an error by skipper Nathan Webb gifted his opposite number the ball in the United area.

Play at this stage was essentially with United but both sides were creating chances. Wishart went close from a tight angle as his effort was headed off the line while at the other end a flicked on throw found Joe Gregory but he was quickly closed down by Reece Fleary. At the midway point in the half United should have doubled the advantage, Wishart broke between two defenders before finding Mark Goodman in the six yard box but Church did well to claw away his close range effort.

Five minutes later it was two, Goodman surged forwards and having reached the edge of the area let Mitchell Dunstall take over and he coolly fired home into the bottom corner of Church’s net.

With ten minutes remaining in the first half United went from comfortable to level within sixty seconds as Jake Flatman twice netted for the Swans. Both from dead balls, the first a drilled 30 yard free-kick from the left side that Ronaldo would have been proud of and the second from the spot after a trip just inside the area earned a penalty for the visitors.

Not deflated by conceding, United were soon back at the right end. Wishart went close on two occasions before it was third time lucky right on the stroke of half time as he cut back past his marker before wrong footing Church to give United the lead once more.

Due to injury, Wishart was replaced at the break by Joakim Ehui but it was Walton who were first to show through Flatman who was inches away from a hat-trick as he blasted another free-kick that Tokarczyk did superbly to tip onto the bar.

Five minutes later United should have increased the lead when a slide-rule Ehui pass sent Cunningham on goal but having drawn the keeper to him his shot was just wide of the target. Walton then went close after Flatman set up Olulobe but his shot across the face was wide of the far post.

Just after the hour mark a sweeping move the length of the field deserved a goal. Fleary started the move from the centre of defence by firing a cross-field ball to Isaac, his deep cross from the left was nodded back into the centre by Goodman to Ehui but Church was quickly out to smother at his feet.

Church then saved from Goodman before another good move saw Bobby Cumber send the ball wide to Isaac, he then played it to Ehui on the edge and he picked his spot in the top corner to enhance United’s lead.

The fifth was only four minutes away when Goodman picked out Ehui at the far post, his weak shot being spilled by Church with the loose ball being taken by Maccabee Thomas who turned and fired past the defender on the line.

The Swans had two late chance to put some life back in the game, George Horrowell went close with a curling shot before the same player brought another good save from Tokarczyk who beat out his shot as far as Kelvin Karanja but his effort was far too high.
