Hayes & Yeading United 6
Harrow Borough 1

A hat-trick from George Isaac put Hayes & Yeading United on the way to a comfortable victory over a Harrow Borough side who arrived at Church Road without a fit specialist goalkeeper.

United, who were missing key players Nathan Webb and Daniel Wishart, nevertheless started strongly as Mark Goodman met Josh Christopher’s corner with a volley and Adam Haras-Gummer blocked his shot with his knees. Dean Worman fired the rebound straight at the stand in keeper.

Minutes later Goodman put Isaac through on goal but he shot into the side netting. Then the same duo combined again but this time, Isaac’s shot was saved by a diving Haras-Gummer.

United took the lead in the 11th minute and it was a carbon copy of a goal in the previous fixture between these two sides as Joel Jacobs smashed in a free kick from thirty five yards, a shot which would’ve tested most specialist keepers.

Two minutes later, United doubled their lead when Dean Worman had a shot blocked by Tyrone Callender-Edwards and the ball squirmed through to Joakim Ehui who finished smartly on the turn.

Isaac hit the post from close range as United really pressed home their advantage and it wasn’t long before a third goal came, Isaac this time finding the bottom corner with a low drilled shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Harrow got a sniff of goal straight from kick off as Safi Fazli got possession in midfield and Troy McLaughlin fired the loose ball just over the bar. However, United were still well on top and Christopher’s deliveries were creating havoc in the Harrow penalty area, first when Ehui dummied for Isaac to shoot, but Haras-Gummer pushed his shot wide of the post. Then from Christopher’s corner, Elliot Bowerbank headed the ball from underneath the crossbar and Isaac Bonket tried an audacious overhead kick which Haras-Gummer plucked out of the air.

Harrow got a goal back when Fazli intercepted Bobby Cumber’s pass and played a one two with McLaughlin before placing the ball into the bottom corner beyond Alex Tokarczyk. The strike pair fashioned another chance soon afterwards but Fazli fired his shot wide.

United reasserted themselves before half time. Worman and Isaac combined to release Cyrus Longdon-Hughes on the left but his shot was blocked by Haras-Gummer. They did get a fourth five minutes before the break when Cumber’s pass found Worman and although his long shot was beaten out by Haras-Gummer, Isaac was first to react and place the ball into the bottom corner.

Harrow switched goalkeepers for the second half, with Paris Abbas going in goal and Haras-Gummer taking up an attacking midfield position. After Jacobs crossed for Isaac who headed the ball against the crossbar, Abbas got into the action by saving Longdon-Hughes’s shot after a neat one two with Ehui.

A minute later however, his error allowed United to score a fifth as Worman’s long range shot skimmed across the pitch and although the ball was hit straight at him, Abbas elected to block the ball with his feet, which he failed to do.

The impressive Fazli fired just wide for Harrow after Troy Raymond’s clever lay off. Then, after Abbas had dealt better with another Worman long shot, Fazli had a shot which deflected just wide off Leo Cunningham.

Tokarczyk saved Callender-Edwards’ header from Jonathan Walsh’s corner before at the other end, Abbas blocked a Longdon-Hughes volley after Ehui put over a pinpoint cross.

Harrow were unlucky when Fazli hit a beautiful free kick straight into the bottom corner, only to discover that referee, Mr Chatfield, had awarded an indirect free kick and so had to give a goal kick.

And in the closing stages, Isaac got through on goal and scored with a firm shot which deflected in off Abbas’s feet to round things off.
