Hayes & Yeading United 9
Dulwich Hamlet 0

Hayes & Yeading went on a goal scoring spree against Dulwich Hamlet in the Lucas Fettes Youth Cup, finding the net nine times whilst hitting the woodwork a further six times on a wet and miserable evening weatherwise at Church Road.

The match started quite even as both sides had chances in the first tem minutes to break the deadlock. First chances went to the home side, Daniel Wishart played in George Isaac who placed the ball under Sam Wheeler’s dive only to see Ike Nwanokwu clear off the line for a corner. The resultant corner by Isaac was met by Dean Worman but his header came back off the crossbar. Seconds later Worman set up Mark Goodman who saw his shot from the edge of the area come back off the upright.

Five minutes later the visitors had their most dangerous spell of the game. Tom Pedrotti was sent through the middle of the United defence but under pressure fired inches wide and then a minute later the same player nodded the ball to Mulusi Mustafa but he miss-hit the shot and Alex Tokarczyk gathered.

United opened the scoring in the 13th minute as Wishart outpaced Olly Bell on the left before crossing low and hard to Goodman who got in front of his marker to beat Wheeler from close range, from this point on it really was to become one way traffic.

Number two came seven minutes later when Joakim Ehui fed Wishart who seeing Wheeler off his line clipped a deft chip over his head and into the empty net. Wheeler then twice denied Wishart a second before a smart pass from Isaac found Goodman who held off two defenders before rolling the ball past Wheeler.

The impressive Isaac only had to wait a few minutes before he too added his name to the score sheet as he moved onto a Wishart pass before delicately chipping the ball over Wheeler into the Hamlet net.

Just a minute later Wishart saw a shot on the turn go wide off the post but he was not to be denied his second just before the break as an incisive through ball by Isaac saw the United top scorer drive the ball first time into the bottom corner.

The post was to deny United twice more in first half stoppage time as first Goodman and then Josh Christopher were denied by the frame of the Dulwich goal.

With the visitors looking somewhat demoralised, the second half was very much like the first. Just five minutes had been played when Worman sent Isaac through, he held off a challenge only for Wheeler to beat his shot away.

The sixth was only seconds away though as a Joel Jacobs corner was, met powerfully by defender Isaac Bonket giving Wheeler no chance of keeping it out. Substitute Mitchell Dunstall soon added his name to the list when after good build up play by Wishart and Isaac, the ball was fed to Dunstall on the edge of the area and he fired home through a crowded area.

We had just passed the hour mark when number eight hit the net giving a well deserved hat-trick to Goodman as he slid the ball home after Wheeler had pushed away Worman’s angled drive.

The ninth came three minutes later when a free-kick was awarded six yards from goal after Wheeler picked up a back-pass. Wishart rolled the ball right to Isaac who fired through the wall of pink and blue on the goal-line.

Twenty minutes remained when Tokarczyk was called into real action for the first time. The United stopper came from his area to challenge Pedrotti for the ball and when it ran loose to Mustafa the odds were in his favour but Tokarczyk did well to push the ball wide at full stretch.

The hitherto redundant Tokarczyk was in action again three minutes later when Mustafa picked off an errant Jacobs pass and advanced on goal but his shot was well saved by the United keeper.

Stoppage time saw the Dulwich goal frame hit for the sixth time when a Nathan Webb centre sailed over Wheeler and came back off the bar to Cyrus Longdon-Hughes but he blasted over from eight yards out.
