Hayes & Yeading United were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup by AFC Wimbledon although the three goal margin of victory was far from as easy as it seems.

The first chance fell to the visitors as Nathan Webb's clearance was fired goalwards by the impressive full back Danny Carter and Callum Dunne diverted the ball but straight at Alex Tokarczyk in the United goal.

An entertaining and even first half ebbed and flowed. Mark Goodman's far post corner was headed goalwards by Daniel Wishart but Carter was handily positioned on the line to clear. Then at the other end, a Callum Wellburn header from Carter's corner was well blocked by Tokarczyk.

Wishart was again on target when he raced onto Cyrus Longdon-Hughes's pass and fired the ball towards the far corner, only for Jack Turner to palm the ball away. Then George Isaac attempted a lob from Dean Worman's long pass but didn't get enough elevation and Jack Turner held on comfortably.

AFC Wimbledon took the lead in the 24th minute when another Carter corner was met by Wellburn and this time his header went in off the inside of the far post.

Immediately, United responded and Worman slid the ball through to Goodman but Jack Turner raced off his line to smother his shot.

Longdon-Hughes cut the ball back to Wishart but again the striker was foiled by Jack Turner befor at the other end, another set piece saw Wellburn's long throw flicked on by Dunne, but Tokarczyk prevented it from going into the net.

Just before half time, Wishart dispossessed Harry Knock before firing just over, but a crucial moment came just before half time as another AFC Wimbledon corner was headed into the net, this time by Rhys Turner.

It became apparent in the second half that the next goal was going to be significant, and Wishart came very close to getting it when subsitute Joakim Ehui put him through but Rhys Turner got back to clear the ball off the line. Unfortunately for him, he suffered a serious looking injury soon afterwards which caused some delay.

AFC Wimbledon sealed the victory by claiming the third goal on 68 minutes. Knock's throughball gave Matt Harmsworth the opportunity and he beat Tokarczyk from close range.

Jack Turner again left the unfortunate Wishart wondering how to beat him as he blocked his volley at the far post, but by the end, AFC Wimbledon had their tails up, sensing that victory had been secured and Tokarczyk was required to keep the score down, making three impressive saves to deny Charlie Hamsher and one to keep out Josh Ayres's snapshot.
