Hayes and Yeading United's reserve side got off to a winning start despite an appearance late in the game by a geriatric centre forward (pictured).

In a game that saw all four seasons of weather during the ninety minutes, United opened the scoring on sixteen minutes when a neat back-heel by Adam Cornell sent Miles Jones clear on goal and he duly finished capping the move with his customary somersault.

The second came about ten minutes before the break, Shaun McAuley and Emmanuel Sackey combined down the right flank with the latter's cross being headed home by substitute Junior Howell.

Chances were few and far between in the second period but it did give the manager chance to assess the ageing centre-forward that came on at the end, I think he touched the ball once!!
