Hayes & Yeading United 3
Harefield United 1
Half-Time: 2-1 Referee: Mr J Balcombe

Despite going a goal behind, United's second string put in a solid come from behind performance to run out 3-1 winners thus retaining their 100% start to the campaign.

With just five minutes played, United went close twice in less than a minute, firstly a James Mulley shot was deflected into the path of Junior Howell but he screwed his effort wide and next saw a powerful run from halfway by Emmanuel Sackey with a 20 yard effort at the end that keeper Rhys Shearing tipped around the post.

Hares first attempt towards goal saw Micolus Livesey's shot go just wide of Adam Thomson's upright before Howell worked the ball to debutant Clarke for United but he also just failed to hit the target. The deadlock was broken on 20 minutes, somewhat surprisingly by the visitors. Gurnik Sangha worked free before finding Daniel Barrance whose 20 yard drive appeared to hold up on the wind as it beat Thomson into the top corner of the United net. Thankfully the few United fans at The Warren did not have to wait long for the reply as it came less than 30 seconds later as a Toby Little cross from the left found Michael Barima who turned his marker before slotting past Shearing.

Harefield had a good chance to go ahead when a Mikey Kwaitkawski free-kick was met by Barrance but he could not keep his header down then just three minutes later we took the lead. Mulley picked up the ball 35 yards from goal and ran at the Hares defence, having exchanged a neat 1-2 with Howell he was just sharp enough to toe the ball past Shearing into the net.

Clarke had a couple of efforts before the break, the first being held by Shearing and the second, a curling effort from the right side of the area beat Shearing all ends up but sadly was about an inch too high.

The second period took a while to get going and more than an hour of the game had passed when another chance arrived. Mulley turning creator this time as another run forwards saw the midfielder feed left to Little who fired past Shearing with the aid of a slight defensive deflection.

Little was continually involved in the home sides surges forwards, first setting Clarke who fired just wide and then having a crack himself with a volley that was just too high to trouble Shearing. Nine minutes remained when Livesey should have given his side a lifeline only to fire wide when well placed at the far post and five minutes later Kwaitkawski sent in a drive from 30 yards that flew just over Thomson's crossbar. A minute later the same player went even closer only to see his free-kick come back off the upright to substitute Melvin Jules who could not convert.

Howell almost rounded a lively performance off with a goal but his last minute shot struck the last defender in the face and the danger was cleared.

United host Carshalton Athletic on Saturday at the Warren, another side with a 100% record from two games.
