Carshalton Athletic 4
Hayes & Yeading United
1
Half-Time: 0-1 Referee: J Garratt
With no other keepers available, manager Colin Davis was forced to play himself between the sticks while placing his assistant Gary Marks and Secretary Paul Ashcroft on the bench!!

Carshalton started the better of the two sides and started to create chances early on. A long ball over the United defence found keeper Colin "the cat" Davis come running out and in attempting to kick the ball slipped and fell over, the Robins tried to get the ball in quickly but the cross was blocked by the oncoming United defenders. On four minutes Hayes & Yeading United took a surpise early lead, against the run of play, when a corner came across to the back post and from ten yards Donnell Allen smashed in a shot with his left peg that rifled past the keeper.

United tried to play some football, despite being handicapped by the cat in goal, but the Carshalton players were more up for it than the Hayes & Yeading players so the more attacking play came from the home side.

The referee booked four Carshalton players in the first half mainly for dissent and argueing with his decisions.

The second half saw Carshalton dominate as they were more up for it and it showed by Hayes & Yeading's sloppy play. On 48 minutes the home side equalised through Joel Greaves with a header as he shrugged off the Hayes & Yeading defence and gave the cat no chance.

On 55 minutes a corner was not cleared and when Martin Dell delivered into the area Laurent Hamici headed the Robins in front. Everytime the Hayes & Yeading players cleared the ball it just came straight back and on 60 mins Carshalton went 3-1 up through Anthony Bridgeman who beat the Cat to the ball (old age? - ed).

Things were going from bad to worse and on 77 minutes Jeremy Williams shot home from 25 yards past the stranded Cat who was left licking his paws.

The Cat would also like to state that none of the goals were his fault and he made some good saves in the first half even one when going the wrong way!!
