United's reserve side continued their unbeaten pre-season with a 1-1 draw against Camberley Town's first team at Krooner Park on Monday night.

The home side went close on ten minutes but the home striker having been put through against John Peacock in the United goal allowed the keeper to push him wide and he could only fire into the side netting.

Just over quarter of an hour had been played when a deep cross from the right was played back across goal by triallist Dennis, finding Miles Jones at the far post but his effort was also wide of the target. Camberley went close just minutes later when a dipping free-kick by the left full-back just cleared Peacock's crossbar.

With United really not finding much form going forwards, it was Peacock who kept the scoresheet blank as the home side took a quick free-kick that led to a goalbound drive coming in from the edge of the area that the United stopper pushed away at full stretch.

Before half an hour had passed, the home sides diminutive left winger bore down on Peacocks goal but again the keeper forced him wide and he could only hit his shot wide of the upright.

The next action came on the hour mark, with United having made several substitutions, it was a two sub combination that nearly broke the deadlock. Stafforde Palmer won possession in the centre circle before advancing and playing in Chris Lapierre, the strikers drive being acrobatically tipped over by the home keeper who failed to get the deserved acclaim as a goal kick was awarded.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 74th minute following a rare Peacock error, the keepers calling for a high punt into the box only to misjudge the bounce which saw the ball bounce over his head leaving Julian Sills with an easy tap in. Town's lead was to last exactly 48 seconds though as almost immediately from the kick off United worked the ball forwards to Palmer who rifled home an unstoppable shot from 20 yards giving the home keeper no chance.
