Hayes & Yeading United lost out in a local derby against Maidenhead United, who progress to a second round tie with Bromley.

Manager Garry Haylock took the opportunity to give some squad players a run out, with Gilbert Nuako and Miles Jones returning to the starting eleven and Rhys Price making his United debut. However, with strict competition rules about player eligibility both sides still fielded striong line ups.

Maidenhead took the early initiative. In fact, within a minute, a Serge Makofo cross found Yashwa Romeo's head and but for a deflection of Tom Cadmore, Hayes & Yeading could have been immediately behind. Even from the resulting corner, Darti Brown should have scored but blazed over from Errol Telemaque's header down to him.

Another Makofo cross was met with a Grant Cooper header but he found a well positioned Preddie but MAidenhead were soon in the lead when Rhys Price was dispossessed in midfield and former Yeading FC and Hayes FC striker Telemaque slotted Manny Williams through on goal and he finished emphatically into the bottom corner.

A similar move almost doubled the advantage soon afterwards but Romeo's shot was blocked by Preddie. Then, in virtually the first attack of the game for the visitors, Price almost levelled for Hayes & Yeading when James Mulley slid the ball sideways and he shot inches wide from 25 yards.

Cooper was just wide with a curling free kick but it was soon 2-0 and again the goal was accredited to Williams although his angled shot was diverted into the net by Preddie, who will be disappointed not to have gathered in the ball at the near post. Nevin Saroya sought an immediate reply with a free kick but Chico Ramos was alert to make his first save of the match. Preddie made amends for his error with a fine catch from Wes Daly's ferocious shot and a smart block from Romeo.

An improved second half performance for Hayes & Yeading wasn't rewarded with any goals and in fact, Maidenhead broke and scored a third.

Steve Perkins headed inches wide from Liam Collins's cross and Kieran Knight's smart turn and shot went just the wrong side of the post.

Maidenhead still had chances and Tom Cadmore did well to block Romeo's goalbound effort. However, much of the attacking was done by the visitors and substitute Michael Barima got a header on target from James Mulley's cross but for Ramos to comfortably hold onto the ball.

And with four minutes left, after several deflections in front of goal, Romeo rammed the ball home to book Maidenhead's passage into round two.
