Hayes and Yeading United continued their excellent start to this years campaign with a 4-1 victory over an Exeter City side of triallists and reserve/youth players. Due to injuries, City had to borrow United's two back up keepers but I do not believe this took anything away from a very good H&Y performance.

United started well once again, this time taking a ninth minute lead courtesy of Josh Scott.
Scott and Liam Collins had already gone close for United when Steven Gregory found Shaun McAuley who in turn sent Danny Allen-Page away down the right flank, his low centre eluded Simon Martin but fell nicely for Scott to tuck it home at the far post.

Just a couple of minutes later, Scott nipped past the full-back Sheku Kamara firing a low cross that Martin touched just wide of the far post. United continued to dominate play and should have netted a second when a Scott cross was palmed to James Mulley by John Peacock but he rushed his volley and the ball flew over the crossbar.

On 25 minutes the second did finally arrive, Scott flicked on a long Davies clearance finding strike partner Martin, although Martin was tackled by Sheku Kamara the loose ball fell perfectly to the on-coming Scott who tucked it neatly past Peacock in the City goal.

Five minutes later it was 3-0, a strong defensive clearance by Tom Cadmore fell in to Martin's run and he held off Phil Nortey before finishing calmly from eight yards.

Six minutes before the break City fired their way back into the game, Ricky Shakes broke from his own half before freeing Dean Stamp. The striker moved past Matthew Hislop before firing past Kevin Davies from the edge of the area.

It took United just five minutes to regain their three goal advantage and once again it was the lively figure of Scott that put City to the sword. The striker taking the ball from the foot of Luke Cole before beating three tackles and firing past Peacock to complete his hat-trick.

Sadly the second period was just a mass of substitutions as both managers tried out different players in their quest to find the ultimate team to mount a challenge in the coming season.

The constant changes led to very little goalmouth action, a save by Adam Thomson from Staforde Palmer being the only real chance of note.
